Welcome
My name is Cynthia Reardon, and I’m your child’s teacher. I’d like to tell you a little about myself and what can be expected this year. I love being a teacher and am happy to go to work every day. I have always loved school and learning new things. I am constantly reading and taking courses so I can be effective and fresh. I have been teaching over twenty years. I have a Master’s of Education in science/math/technology and am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher. I taught at Tavares Elementary School, Altoona Elementary School, Spring Creek Elementary School, Seminole Springs Elementary School, and back to Altoona. I chose to help keep this school open because I believed in our community spirit, and together, every year, we grow better and stronger.
I was born in France while my father was in the army. I grew up in Michigan. My father had numerous jobs; he was a house painter, a fireman, a mailman, and he built tires in a factory. My mother was a secretary. When I was small, I watched the first man walk on the moon on TV. I have one younger brother. All of my immediate family now lives in Florida. I earned scholarships and worked my way through college. I graduated from Michigan State University and the University of Central Florida. I have been married 30 years, a resident of Florida for 29 years, and live in Mt. Plymouth. I don’t have any children, but I do have one big dog and seven birds. (I’m allergic to cats.) I enjoy walking, reading, weaving baskets, and being involved in community activities. I don’t cook, and I do not like cleaning – but I do enjoy going out to dinner and shopping.
This year, fourth grade students will take the reading, math and writing FCAT tests. All students will need to pass all their courses and most of the FCAT tests to be promoted. This is a difficult testing year, but if we all work towards this goal, students will excel.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Reardon
