Welcome back friends.  I can't believe that the first half of the school year is almost over.  It is time to begin the Reading Road Trip by exploring nonfiction with the K & 1st grades. This is one of my favorites things , because we start at the beginning & move all of the way through the nonfiction book case. Many activities are explored with our great readers as we travel through the Dewey Decimal System.  It is certain to be a fun, fact filled adventure for all.

Joe Bright Adventures in Reading

January Titles to Look For:
I Spy Fly Guy
Skippyjon Jones:  Class Trouble
First Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs for Kids
The Magic Finger
Lamborghinis  (Wild Wheels)

     Reading Tips

Let your student read the grocery ads  or magazine ads to you.

Find a comfortable spot for your student to read in.

Read a story to your student, then have them retell the story to you.

Look at the books that they bring home.  Encourage them to read to you

Have your student check out a book to read to a younger sibling.

Thanks for being a friend,
Mrs. Criner & Otto
