Kindergarten Curriculum
The students will be taking part in an in depth music program. This program incorporates all of the Florida Sunshine State Standards for kindergarten. The following describes what the students will be learning for each nine weeks of school.
First Nine Weeks:
Emphasis: Experience Listening/Singing - sol, mi, do, la songs Rhythm – steady beat Melody – high & low, direction Timbre – vocal, environment Expression – fast & slow Form – echo Applications to Life – appropriate behaviors and responses Second Nine Weeks: Emphasis: Performance Rhythm – long & short sounds Melody – direction, contour Timbre – nature sounds, percussion Expression – tempo (faster/slower) Form – same & different sections |
Third Nine Weeks:
Emphasis: Improvisation Rhythm – 1 & 2 sounds per beat Melody – contour, same and different melodic patterns Timbre – instrumental Expression – legato & staccato Form – phrases Fourth Nine Weeks: Emphasis: Composition Rhythm – 1 & 2 sounds per beat, rests, repeated patterns Melody – melodic patterns Timbre –instrumental & found sounds Expression – tempo changes, dynamic changes (getting louder/softer), mood Form – call & response |
