Welcome to Altoona School.  Whether you are a returning family or new to our school, we are happy that you are here.  For students, there is a high level of academic expectation, opportunities for learning, outside time, 4-H, a friendly atmosphere and sense of community.  We have been designated a High Preforming Charter School by the Florida Department of Education.  We welcome thoughts, suggestions and involvement.  You will receive regular updates and calendars informing you of upcoming events.  There will be family education nights, open houses, open barn and other school and community based events at the school in 2012-2013.

If a student ever needs to check out early, please remember to sign them out in the office.  Please do not ever take a child out directly from their classroom.  Additionally, you must let the school know if someone other than you will be picking up your child.  (Please see the attendance policy in the school packet you will receive August 20th regarding check-ins and check-outs.)

Altoona School is a school of choice which means no zoning requirements and no zone waivers are needed!
We serve the students of Lake and southeast Marion counties.
Enrollment will be open on a first come, first serve basis.  When capacity is reached, students wishing to enroll will be subject to a lottery selection per Florida Statute 1002.33(10)(e-4) regarding enrollment.  Altoona School will adhere to the Lake County Public School calendar and policies.
Our bus routes are west on 42 all the way to Buck and Does and behind Willie's Iron Works on County Line Rd. and Keene Rd., and north on 19 and 445 to Kismet, Shockley Heights, Paisley Rd. and NFS 573
